Pascal and Louis turned ten months old on Sunday and I can hardly believe how much they've become their own individuals in such a short time. Pascal is a quiet explorer, finding doors to open and new objects to tinker with. He took his time learning to crawl but became an expert overnight. He loves to laugh and practices different forms of laughing throughout the day. The maracas are his favorite things to shake and bang together. He sticks his tongue out, pointing it at his right nostril when he's concentrating. He's shy with strangers.
Louis, on the other hand, flirts with anyone and everyone. He flashes his dimples and bares his two bottom teeth generously. He loves the camera. He's on the constant search for "the next best toy," but right now is really into playing with magnets on the fridge and crawling around with one sticking out of his mouth. He gets frustrated when things don't go his way. He loves his Mamma more than anything and cries when she leaves to go to work.
One of the most rewarding parts of being a twin Mom is watching Pascal and Louis develop a love for each other. They always keep track of the other and if they stray too far -- which happens often now that they are on the move -- have developed a pattern of meeting back up to check in every five or ten minutes. Usually this involves some squealing as they reunite. They do take toys (mostly cardboard books, the most coveted toy right now) from each other, but seem to have worked out an understanding and no one gets too upset. Our "quiet time" before bed involves a post-bath bottle on our bed which inevitably turns into wrestling with each other and laughing. Marc's and my favorite daily ritual.
